Hi folks!
As per our update last month, everything has been printed, and games are on boats or are at port already!
We will be sending out rewards to backers throughout September. Depending on where you are in the world, you may receive your rewards in late September or early October.
Shipping Address
Earlier this month backerkit sent a reminder email to update your address if you need to, and you will no longer be able to edit your address in the backerkit pledge manager.
We'll send out address verification emails to you prior to shipping from warehouses, so look out for those in September. If you need to update your address last minute you will be able to at that time.
Customs & Tariffs
Split the Hoard has arrived at port in Australia first, and we are waiting for the games to clear customs before they head to the warehouse.
Once the games have arrived at port in the UK and US, they will need to go through customs. We will--as always--have the right paperwork in place, but it can take anything from a few days to a few weeks for a shipment to clear customs.
Shipping tariffs to the US are currently 'paused' at 30%, we have made the decision to eat this cost and ship the US stock directly to our warehouse in the US. It is painful, but this is not a cost we want to pass on to our backers.
We've had some backer messages and offers to pay extra to help with the tariff costs - which is very kind. Thank you for the thought, but we will not be asking for extra funds.

Printing finished - moving to shipping

Hey folks!
As per our update last month, everything has been printed, and we are now shipping Split the Hoard.
Shipping Plan
Split the Hoard will leave the printer in Shanghai and ship to our three different warehouses in the UK, the US, and Australia. Shipping time to different locations varies, but they should arrive in all countries by the end of August.
Once the stock has arrived at port, it will need to go through customs. We will--as always--have the right paperwork in place, but it can take anything from a few days to a few weeks for a shipment to clear customs.
Fulfilment Plan
Once at the warehouses, we'll pack and send out the individual orders to you, our backers. These orders will leave our warehouses in August or early September, and will arrive with in August or September, depending on your location and your local shipping carriers.
We'll send out address verification emails to you prior to shipping, so look out for those in August. If you need to update your address last minute you will be able to at that time.

Preparing to Ship! Games with you in August/September

Hi folks! As promised before we left for UK Games Expo, we have a shipping plan for Split the Hoard to share with you--and it's great news for those of you in the US!
Printing is finishing this month.
Shipping is booked for July.
Box sets planned to be with backers in August or September depending on location.

Preview of the Split the Hoard & impact of tariffs

Hello folks!
Lets start with the good news - we've approved the final sample and have a copy here to show you in this video.
Shipping Tariffs
Now manufacturing is coming to an end, we are looking at shipping.
As you are no doubt aware, the US government has recently imposed a series of increasingly larger tariffs on imports from China, where Split the Hoard is being manufactured.
We were going to post an update a few weeks ago, but each time we were about to so the situation changed, forcing us to run the numbers again and replan. The tariffs have gone from 20% to 54% to 104% to 125% then to 145%.
So, what does this mean for fulfilment of this Kickstarter?
With the tariffs changing rapidly, it's impossible to know what they will be on the day our shipment arrives in port in the US.
They're not on the boat yet. So we're weighing up our options. We have not yet made any decisions, but we wanted to share our current thinking with you.
Initially, when the tariff was 54% we were considering simply eating it and continuing as normal. It would been extremely painful, but we could have handled it. Now it's at 145% that's more of an existential question than a logistical one
Right now we're leaning towards the idea of shipping the North America shipment to our warehouse in the UK instead, holding them here, and waiting to see if the situation improves. If we did that, it unfortunately, means a big delay for North American fulfillment. The rest of the world would be fulfilled as normal in this scenario.
I know some people will be asking why not do that and then send the shipment on from the UK to avoid the tariffs? Unfortunately it doesn't work like that--the tariff is based on the point of origin, where it was made, not the most recent country passed through. And, of course, relabeling or otherwise trying to trick customs agencies as to the product's point of origin is very illegal.
Likewise, simply fulfilling individual orders from the UK does not work--the 'de minimis' threshold of $800 under which tariffs do not apply when entering the US no longer applies to shipments which originated in China.
Rest assured, you WILL get your copy of Split the Hoard! Those outside the US are unaffected. Those in the US, we'll keep you updated right up to the moment when we have to put the shipment on that boat or not. Maybe all this will go away before then.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away. As I said, no decision has been made or needs to be made until the last minute. But we want to reiterate that there is zero chance of you not getting your copy of Split the Hoard. However we do it, we will get them to you!

Manufacturing Delay Update

Unfortunately we have manufacturing delays putting us behind schedule. This means we will not be able to fulfil the physical copies of the Split the Hoard to you in April as originally planned, but will be rolling into May and June for fulfilment.
Why the delay?
We were unable to approve a sample in February as we had planned. The print files and rulebook were not to the standard we were happy to print, and so we have adjusted the design and are awaiting a new sample to approve.
Additionally we need to make some small changes to be compliant with the regulation details for new GPSR regulations in the EU.
We are sorry for this delay. We have a hard earned reputation for fast delivery of crowdfunding campaigns which is important to us. Whilst we are upset with having a delay, we know that a high quality product is more important than rushing through something we were not completely happy with, and we feel we have made the right decision.
UKGE Free Pick Up
Are you attending the UK Games Expo at the end of May? As we plan on shipping in May, we can instead offer free pick up at the EN Publishing stand for anyone who would like to pick up their copy of Split the Hoard at the convention.
If you would prefer this option, please send us a direct message here on Kickstarter. We can arrange to cancel your shipping fee and make sure to have your copy put aside at the UK Games Expo.
